One Week Away....

Post by RobS »

Here's the reservation roster as of today, 16 boats reserved, plus John & Sharon plus member tlinson possibly coming. Also, I met a couple on a blue hulled FD 28TE from Chester, CT here on Long Island last week at a local beach on Fire Island. I told them about the Essex Rendezvous as they are only a couple towns up the CT River and they may pop in as well. Member jleanoard also mentioned stopping in Friday afternoon on 4-wheels.

Quite the group we will have, some have met, many have not, it will be a good time for sure. I think we should consider name-tags? Feedback please? At least for a little while. Maybe I'll bring blue Post-it's, a bit more nautical than the yellow one's used by the Chesapeake group

I don't think the Post-It notes will stick too good to rain-gear :(

Dee and I are looking forward to meeting all of you. Since we are first timers, name tags would be very helpful. Also is there an agenda for the weekend??? Is there anything that we need to bring??

I agree, there will be many new faces so I have the name-tag paraphernalia packed on the boat.

After discussion with a few member friends it was decided to keep the agenda light. We would like to see as many members as possible on the docks Friday late afternoon for a welcome / meet & great cocktail and "bring your best dip" party.

Saturday day will be left up in the air, open for discussion, do as you please, etc....

Saturday evening is the cookout on the Deck. We have the Deck reserved for a 4:30 setup and 5:30 event time, see attached reservation form.

As far as what to bring, it's basically B.Y.O. (with a few to spare :D )

See you all soon.

Last day of work for me, wheee! Packing up tonight (Wed) and hoping to leave around 6 AM Thursday, assuming an average 14knts, and a stop to fish the Westerly reefs, I should be in Essex before Noon, about 60 miles. Karen will be arriving after class with The Hour Glass van for any land transportation needs. BTW, thanks to Rob for all your efforts in putting this all together (and calling EIM for me, I have been crazy here!). Looking forward to seeing everyone!

YEA! Last day for me as well. Afterglow, via Amtrak, rolls out Thursday morning at 9:19 arriving 2:30. We should be at the marina 3:30 or so.
Safe travels to all!

Ric,
You're trip is about what we had today. Met Matt Hanna in Moriches Bay at 7AM and ran 62 miles to Essex, running 14 to 16knts. Rafted adrift for a short while in Peconic Bay trading memosa's for coffee around 8:30 and ended up hitting Saybrook ar 11:15ish. Called EIM, slips were still occupied until noon so we steamed at 6-7 knots up the river hitting EIM at 12 noon sharp.

We had a perfect trip here, hope everyone has the same.

Thanks for the thanks in putting this together, no problemo.
