Riser elbow
As a result of a thread here a couple of months ago, I removed the exhaust riser to check it for soundness on Saturday. It came off easily and I found out it was made of aluminum not cast iron. It really did not show any wear but since I do not know how old it is and it was on there when I bought the boat four years ago it's worth a change. It's also a good time to change the rubber hose that attaches it. I also want to pull the heat exchanger and check that, I'll let you know how that goes. Denis

Re: Riser elbow
Denis,
Did you ever pull the exchanger? I'm interested in the results. How many hours on your engine?

Re: Riser elbow
I did install a new exhaust elbow, it costs just under $200 and took about a half hour to change. I ordered two new gaskets for the exchanger but I have not taken it out yet to check it. Not to make an excuse, but I am rebuilding a house from the ground up right now so I am putting a lot of hours in on that. In another post I mentioned that I only ran 30 hours last year, I'll be lucky if I put 20 hours on her this year.
