Albins relieve stress!

Post by Legacy »

Plastic came off today and the engines started purring. Will do some cleaning and checking systems tomorrow morning. With the advertising business so lousy the stress has been tough. But sitting on the boat today made me feel like all will be OK. Get out and go boating!

Rick,
No matter what type of boat you own, whatching the sunrise on summer morning from your boat is something that only a few folks can enjoy. To think that some spend their entire life and never see that...

Your business is tough enough in good times. Be cool. 8)

By the way...it will be o.k. We're boaters!

The best time of day is sitting onboard at anchor watching all the dayboaters going home  knowing that the only trip you need to do is the one to the cooler to see whats for dinner on the BBQ.

Rick, I can relate, the furniture business isn't exactly setting the world on fire. I can't imagine opening a new business at a worse time....economy heading down, gas was heading up.....oh well...there is always the Albin.....and there is always tomorrow. Happy Boating to us all in 2009.

Chief:
All the more reason for you to take some time off and come north to Herrington Harbour South. Can we expect to see you guys in June?

Rick,
Yeah the ad biz is down, but remember, you can't loose your job unless you fire yourself. I've been doing this since 1978, seen some nasty times, and yeah the money goes up & down, but I never got laid off! Short money is better than no money.

Oh man. I'm experiencing an entirely different kind of stress right now. Business is good, VERY good. I've never been busier. Money is the least of my concerns right now, but there is still plenty to be stressed about. On top of working 60+ hour weeks, I've been putting in an average of four hours every night and all day on the weekends at the new house. I found out last week that I've developed carpal tunnel from using all the power tools, AND that I officially have hypertension. The mortgage industry is booming right now, but seemingly every day there's some new rule or policy that makes my job even more difficult and, yes, stressful. I think just knowing that I have to go on medication for my blood pressure, actually increased my blood pressure.

Yesterday was our first nice day this year. 70 and sunny; not common for early April in Western Washington. But then, neither was the snow we had just three days earlier! After getting up at 5am to head over to the new house, mask all the windows, and spend two hours with a paint sprayer in a confined space, I'd finally had enough. Around 2pm I declared it "quitting time" and went out on the boat. It definitely relieved some of the stress, but not enough. It doesn't help that I went a little too far with the stress-reducing beer last night. I woke up with a headache this morning that more than made up for any relief I might have gained yesterday. Oops.

If Friday's weather holds, I'm taking Legacy out to see some Norther Right Whales. About 70 have pushed in fairly close. Seeing those fine creatures is the best stress reliever you can do with your clothes on! Will post pictures if I get out.
Take care all!
