I have a 27AC w/4D61 and my tach/hour meter has failed.
I ordered a new Teleflex tach/hour meter from Hamilton Marine and am
in the process of the swap.
The instructions are asking me for the Full Scale Frequency or FSF so
that I can set the unit to work appropriately with my system.
Being the idiot that I am, I am at a complete loss, that is where I
need the help. In order to calculate the FSF I need:
The # of poles ( is this 1 or 2)??
The pulley ratio (what is this)?
The full scale RPM (this is a 3500 rpm tach, so I assume this should
be 3500)
With this information I can calculate the FSF and set the gain
programming appropriately.
Can someone please provide this information?
Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim
All of this is a guess, so if Im wrong it will be worth exactly what you paid. If this tach works off the alternator, I suspect you need to know the diameters of crankshaft pulley vs alternator pulley to calculate the ratio (the alternator pulley is smaller and turns faster than the crankshaft pulley- actual engine rpm- so you need to know how many times faster). Poles is either the number of relatives of Polish descent in your family or it has to do with alternator design.
I went on the Teleflex website http://ww2.tflx.com/PDF/S024.pdf and found what I believe is your tach (IT SAYS SET FULL SCALE TO 4000 for 3500 TACH). They also have tech support and Im sure if you have the make/model of your alternator, they can tell you what to set it to. If you cant find the info I can look at mine later today, however the unit is a replacement so it may not be identical.

Don
