The Salty Dog has been a very comfortable cruiser and a very solid fishing boat that cruises about 1.5 gph. The reason for sale is I loved this boat so much, I’m moving up to an Albin 28.
- Cummins 4BT fresh water cooled 3800 hours.
- Hurth transmission
- Lots of wood throughout the boat. Interior wood is in like new condition. The exterior wood could use some TLC.
Work done in 2026
- Marina winterized and recommissioned
- Bottom job. Pressure washed, sanded, and painted
- New wipers
- Serpentine belt $100
- Fuel tanks polished
- Airmar B150M thru hull transducer $550
- Refurbished garmins installed (8612XSV & 1042XSV) $2500
- Standard Horizon VHF
- BlueSeas 8 switch rocker panel $250
- Large portion of the wiring replaced
- All new VDO gauges except for hour meter and tach $340
- New LED anchor light $50
- New dometic sani potty with MSD fittings (MSD fittings not currently attached)
- 2 new group 27 batteries
- 4 new injectors $1,000 (1 brand new old stock, 3 Cummins OEM reman). Originals included as spares
- Fresh oil and gear oil change
- All zincs replaced including heat exchanger
- Raw water impeller $45
- New thermostat $100
- SMX Air filter and CCV kit installed. $425
- New starter $395
- New mag switch solenoid $75
- GenPro battery charger $225
- 8” blue water deck cleat $50
- Impeller $75
- New fuel lift pump $160
Work done prior to my ownership:
- new exhaust from the mixing elbow all the way back to the stern
- Jabsco spotlight
- Windlass
- New Sherman raw water pump
- Replaced heat exchanger
The bad:
- Needs a new fresh water pump. Never got around to replacing it.
- It has a full eisenglass enclosure, but it could use new fabric
- Runs rich and has a fuel knock. Replaced all 4 injectors with new genuine Cummins injectors. Marina says valve adjustment
- There’s a bad ground in the gauge panel. All of the gauges just stopped working at the same time this season. All of the gauges were working prior to them going out at the same time including both fuel tank senders.
Asking $13,500 obo. Motivated seller as I am making way for an Albin 28.
