Albin 28 TE - what to look for?

Currently searching for a 28TE flush deck. One of the vessels I’m seriously considering is a 2004 flush deck with the 6LPA.

What are some things to look out for in these boats? Desirable/undesirable options? Common issues?

I know all boats are different and this is far from my first rodeo. Trying to see if I should be looking at anything in particular and which things should be scrutinized when purchasing one of these vessels.

After a year of owning a 27sc, I just couldn’t help myself from getting another Albin. The 27 is listed for sale in another post if anyone is interested. Thanks!

The 6LP has a weak water pump with a tendency to sling salt water under the engine causing corrosion on critical areas like the oil pan, wiring any other juicy targets.
Lay down and look under the engine with a flashlight while it is idling.

The hull is cored, so is the cabin top and the sides of the pilot house, look for water intrusion and delaminating, same with the stringers close to the engine.

Other than that, great boats.

Yes.
The 6LP and 6LPA are the same engine, but A is for America it is built in the US rather than Japan.
Same water pump and the last one I bought brand new from Yamaha 6 years ago had the same seal failure, I got 140 hours out of it.
I believe they are made by Johnson pumps and there may be improved pump seals by now,
Sold my boat 4 yers ago, haven’t kept up.
