Hi! New Member

Post by Peterweis »

Have owned multiple sailboats and my wife and I lived aboard an Island Packet cruising from Maine to the Florida keys on a seasonal basis in the past.

We now live in Jacksonville NC and in our older years will be looking for a trawler. Since we cruise Maine and New England during the Spring thru the Fall, we need a trawler which has a protected prop and rudder and for quality trawlers like a Grand Banks, Monk, and Albin, only the Albin 36 single engine fits that need. We expect to end up motoring thru fields of lobster pots and anchoring amongst lobster pots and I have ended up getting lobster lines wrapped around my prop on previous sailboats.

Also, have hit submerged logs in the ICW such as the Dismal Swamp and Alligator/Pungo canal, with our Island Packet, but its keel and protected prop and rudder saved us.

So, hope to gain incite and general cruising and maintenance info from knowledgeable Albin owners on this forum.

Thanks, Pete and Maryann Weis.
