Good morning everyone,
We are new Albin owners, and have had the boat about a month now. The boat is a 2001 with a single Cummins 6cta 8.3. I have done a few things to the boat already - Changed the serpentine belt, idler pulley, belt tensioner. Changed the Sherwood pump to SMX pump. Removed the aftercooler and it came apart very easily! Whew! Took the core bundle and had it professionally cleaned and tested. I put it all back together and although I haven't had a chance to run the boat, it does idle at the dock with no leaks! I am going to save the rest of the raw water system - Heat Exchanger, thermostats, oil cooler, fuel cooler, etc. for next winter. Right now, I am glad to get the aftercooler off my mind since it had been 3 years since the previous owner did it.
I am struggling with a few things and I am hoping this group can help.
1 - Dinette table pedestal - Our pedestal appears to be missing the inner collar that keeps it stable when extended. Does anyone know who the original manufacturer is of these pedestals? I can't find anything on the pedestal - there is a leaf or arrowhead looking logo on the tightening screw, but searching the WWW I don't find anything.
2 - Porthole lights - We have several missing/damaged screens, and 1 window (the part that hinges open - not the fixed frame) that is damaged beyond repair. Does anyone know where I could source replacement screens and a replacement window?
3 - Head Operation with Holding tank and Macerator - for this one I am totally clueless. We have a Jabsco manual pump flushing head. I can see there is a holding tank in the starboard quarter. I haven't traced anything yet for where the macerator is or the y valve to direct the discharge overboard or into the tank. I would like to be able to use the head for the season, but I am a little intimidated by it all. I just had a coast guard safety inspection done on the boat, and the person who did the inspection said to be compliant I need to locate the y-valve and zip tie it off when I'm not offshore so nothing will be discharged overboard inshore. I have no idea how to use the holding tank, clean/empty the holding tank, etc. If you've ever seen the RV movie with Robin Williams, I envision myself having a time of it just like he did. So, any literature, manuals, videos you can point me to for how to effectively use, clean, maintain this system would be much appreciated.
Cheers to the upcoming season! Thanks in advance for your help!
Nathan

Re: 2001 31TE items
Hi Nathan.
Welcome. I am enjoying my 2001 31TE (dual Yanmars).
for #2: Easy Peasy. Defender has the port parts and I did exactly what you describe. I replaced the screens and a couple of the tinted opening. And it does not break the bank.

For #3: I have an electric flush, macerating head but I expect the downstream system might be similar. I re-did all the hoses the year after I bought mine because of the smell, so I can describe the tank / hose / valve system on mine and the changes I made.
My sanitary original system set-up
From the head, there is a loong hose which goes down the starboard side of the boat and goes to a Y valve aft of the the holding tank, attached to the transom bulkhead. The Y valve can direct the stuff from the toilet to the holding tank OR directly overboard, via a siphon break loop which is located on the port side of the boat up in the area behind the transom shower set. Then it goes to the thru-hull back on the starboard side of the boat very close to the aft side of the holding tank. LOTS of hose. From the holding tank, there is an additional Y valve, which allows you to either direct the contents of the holding tank to the pumpout connection (near the aft starboard cleat), OR to a macerator pump mounted on the interior transom bulkhead, centerline, which then goes to the overboard connection. With this original configuration I had, the options included:
Toilet --> Holding Tank --> Pumpout (this is used 99% of the time for me)
Toilet --> Holding Tank --> Macerator pump overboard (used a couple of times)
Toilet --> Direct Overboard (never used)
My sanitary current system set-up
When I replaced my hoses, I removed all the hosing for direct overboard. It got rid of a Y valve and the extra hoses that went to the port side. It really simplified my system. So I can now do:
Toilet --> Holding Tank --> Pumpout
Toilet --> Holding Tank --> Macerate overboard
I do not know if your system is the same considering you have a manual Jabsco. But for most people, toilet --> Holding Tank --> pumpout is the majority of what you will do. If you go offshore a lot, > 3 miles, then you might macerate overboard.
I hope this helps. I am sure you will get some good comments from the crew in this forum. Also on best way to treat the tank to minimize smells.
Regards,

Re: 2001 31TE items
Rob,
Thanks so much for the reply and links. Thats perfect.
I will do some crawling around and get my head system figured out. And your description helps me to have an idea of where things should be. We have the same model year, just single vs twin. So I hopefully can assume our layouts and plumbing are similar if not identical.
