Re: replacement radio suggestions
I had this one put on last year to replace my garmin unit. It has its own built in GPS with an AIS receiver. Plug it in to your NMEA 2000 network and it will display AIS vessels on your GPS display. It is pretty cool to see the other boat's info that are transmitting. Also helps you identify what you are looking at at night when you see a blob on the radar. https://www.standardhorizon.com/indexVS ... visionID=3

Icom m323-gps. I think that’s what mine is. Fits the slot almost perfectly.

Re: replacement radio suggestions
I have a newer Standard Horizon with the built in AIS. It has a very good AIS display on the screen if you don’t want to run extra wires. And very intuitive. The AIS has been very useful figuring the intention of cargo boats - especially when they anchor near a shipping lane.
