Advice on rocket launchers

Post by Mike Ebert »

I'd like to install rocket launchers at the back of the pilot house roof. Has anyone had these made for them. I'm hoping I can find a fabricator who might have already worked on a 31TE. Thanks

Tired of the Coast Guard's random boardings, eh?

Good luck with that.

Or it could be a way to keep those pesky jet skiers from getting to close.

Very true. I've also found that simply slowing down to reduce the wake makes them go away.

Mike,

If you have a radar arch they make clamp-ons, here is a WEB site you may want to look at. I'm about to order some for mine.

http://www.fishing-catalog.com/lee/rodholder.htm

Search around a little on the WEB and I'm sure you will find what you need.

This site has a lot of comedians on it....

The number 4 Taco rod holders at this site recommended by Pitou fit perfectly on my radar arch and at $54 they were the best price. http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xcart/ ... t=0&page=1

It appears that there may have been a change in the tubing used on the radar arches. I measured the diameter of mine at 1.510" which requires you to use #3 Taco cuda clamp holders not #4 like Pitou's (BTW - thanks for the River Marine Supply reccomendation. They have been great and the price is good).

I just returned the #4's and the #3's should arrive shortly.

Tube size

Post by Pitou »

Sorry about that Jack / again our boats are the same, but many times a little different. Sounds like a tube change in '03 / PITOU is an '02. I guess it comes down to measure twice buy once. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had considered some clamp-ons for the arch but thought they might be too high and hard to reach. If anyone has a photo of them on the arch I would love to see what it looks like before ordering them.

Clamp On Rod Holders

Post by RicM »

Jack:

Did you ever get clamp-on rod holders that fit? The outside diameter of my radar arch tubing is 1.5". Tubing is measured on the outside, PIPE is measured by the inside diameter. My arch is TUBE. No Taco clamp-on fits, I have bought, tried, and returned every size they make!

Ric -

Yes, I got the #3's to work with a little help from some neoprene rubber. I cut a strip of rubber to line the inside of the clamp portion and socked them down. Works well. This is the 2nd season with them in place and no problems.

If you need a piece of rubber or want to take a closer look, Let me know.

Will the coast guard fine or stop you for having bolt on rod holders installed on the side/bow rails? I have some installed on them, have not had any trouble yet?

rocket launchers

Post by LillianpFD »

Here is a partial shot of my launchers. they were customized by Fastech in Plymoth MA, www.t-tops.com. i love them as they are extremely sturdy, look great, and are just the right height. I have 6 launchers. very happy with this set up and use them often.
