Fuel tank removal

I am removing my tank to cut it open and clean. (I think there must be a bog in the bottom). I have an engine box model with gatsby aft seat. Once I remove the rear deck and connections it appears to be fairly simple to pull out. Has anyone removed their tank and experienced an unexpected problems? It is a Luther's 134 Gal.

I agree it appears it should lift up and out without issue. That will give you the opportunity to check that it is properly seated and protected and not being damaged by chafing, corrosion, etc. Also a good time to access the deck drain plumbing on either side once you have the rear deck out. Those deck drain setups are rather lame...

I agree on the deck drains. Any thoughts on improving the flow?

I removed the flapper from the check valve housings and replaced with a donut I cut out of a square of gasket materials. Worked like a charm and no problems with reverse flow. If I had a cockpit full of guys and backed down hard maybe it would have but I never did. No more water in the bilge after a good rain or deck washing.
