New Dash-No turning back now!!!!!

Post by Mar Azul »

Well I bought the boat in November and only got to go fishing once before I had to have it hauled for the winter. Since I can’t go fishing I decided to start a little project. Removing the upper console and antiquated radar unit with microscopic chart plotter. I picked up a used one year old Raymarine package locally and I’m going to try and mount everything on a new piece of starboard on the dash.

Looks like he split up the factory panel. Key panel lower left, tach lower center/right, gauges on right side.

Impressive job! Looks great. 😎

Nicely done.
Are you an electronic guru by trade?
(I get nervous if too many wires are disconnected at the same time.)
It all looks better than factory.

The displays are 9 inch Raymarine a98 and a95. I'm an Electrical contractor. 80 percent of my work is maintaining ,troubleshooting and repairing industrial machines, many with no wiring diagrams. I just labeled every wire I removed and documented. Then systematically replaced them. The only issue I have had so far is ,I did not realize that the fuel sending unit is a 3 wire connection as apposed to the more common 2 wire. I only discovered this after removing the rear deck thinking I had a bad sending unit.

Thats what I tell people about my job "one wire at a time". I forgot what I did on my fuel gauge. I replaced all the factory Yanmar with Beede gauges. I think it was a three wire, ground, reference (resistance) and power. The biggest issue was differend senders for oil and water temp.

Now that FloScan is out of business, what is the alternative, if any, to digital RPM, GPH, MPG and hour gauges?
My dash also needs an upgrade in the future but hate to use the FloScan gauge if no parts or support.
