A25 window rubber moldings

I have my '77 Deluxe here on the Adriatic since 1995. Window moldings have shrunk in length over the years so that each window molding has a gap of at least of half of inch affecting the circumference. This makes it easy for the weather to penetrate in to the cabins. I don't have the slightest where to buy new rubber molding that fit around the windows so I adorned each window with a continuous strip of American made duct tape. I tried many different things in the past and came to the conclusion that the only real solution is the new moldings. Does anyone have any ideas where to purchase? Thank You, Zvonko [Zonk]

Here in Europe you'd get them under the brand name "Claytonride window rubbers" or "Claytonride Seals", http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shop ... rtmentId=4
Maybe this is a point to start from.

You need the window rubber, the filler strip, and - highly recommended - the glazing tool, which costs nothing compared to how it will help installing the gasket.
If you are on the Adriatic you also get them in Germany, https://shop.ruegg.de/ , search for "Fensterklemmprofile" oder "Fenster-Klemmprofile". This is where I got them from.

Cost about $55 plus shipping
There was also a special tool purchased to install the locking filler
strip - about $15 - worth the price.

Catalog also includes instructions to install - make sure you get it or you
will waste time and do it wrong. i.e..You must over cut rubber by 1/8" /
foot of length or it will shrink and leak at the butt joint. My forward
galley Window req. 1-1/8" due to 9ft length. Plastic cut 1/8" longer .

I chose this style due to 3/16" for wrapping fiberglass and 1/4" to wrap
glass. Place the rubber splice joint center line top of opening and plastic
joint center line bottom of opening.

Also used 1/4" LEXAN MR (mar resistant surface) from commercial glass house.
Will last longer. Worked well - shaped to curve of galley and aft cabin - no
problem. Cut easy with saber saw and fine blade.

You'll need an extra pair of hands to do the job, but not all that hard.

Rubber Weatherstrips – Two-Piece Self-Sealing Weatherstrip
Installation Instructions

1A – Follow step 1X (One-Piece Self-Sealing Weatherstrip Instructions). Strip is withdrawn slightly at starting point in such a way
that it matches the overlap. Ends of strip are brought together and are then forced over the body panel. This is necessary to
ensure a tight, smooth joint. Follow steps 2X and 3X (One-Piece Self-Sealing Weatherstrip Instructions -lubricating strip and
inserting glass).

2A – Working in both directions from starting point, lift glass channel lip allowing glass to easily slip into position. At final corner use the

locking tool to open the glass channel to insert remaining glass edge.

3A – Filler strip is inserted into eye of specially designed filler strip installation tool. Eye is constructed so that it will prevent filler

strip from twisting.

4A – At top, away from strip joint, filler strip and eye of tool are inserted into strip’s channel. During first motion of tool, end of filler

strip is held in position with thumb.

5A – Move tool along channel with zipper-like motion. Filler strip feeds through eye and threads into channel. Rounding corners is
easiest when tool is “wiggled” slightly.

6A – When starting point is reached, the tool is removed. Filler strip should be cut to overlap starting point by approximately 1/4"

so that when both ends are forced into place, joint will be under pressure for a tight fit.

Me and my brother, both Albin 25 owners, plan to do the replacement of all Wàweatherstrip on our two boats, next spring... I am bit nervous about the windshield. No mistake to do, because I don't think we could find replacement windshield glass.

Hi Zonk, I would be glad to help you, but the best way for you to get all these item fast is to ask your friend in Chicago to order them. Otherwise, the items will have to transit via Canada, this will cost Custody Duty, custody brokage fees, shipping fees, and time... a lot of time.

You're right. I did not think about the complications at the Canada/US border. However, I focused my thinking on your Sept. 22nd response where it states: "To place an order for material you must order through a company- perhaps the company you work for - they do not sell over the counter to the public." Actually I could buy everything that I may need over the internet and have it shipped to my friends house if I new exactly from what company and what specific items to buy. I hope that somebody responds with that info.

You will need 50feets, may be a bit more... I think it would be better to buy 100 feets... cost a bit more, but you'll be sure to have enough... and the left over is not lost, it can be use in the future if properly stored.

Just found this post, though it's 2 years old.
The curved windows in the fore and aft cabin of our 'new' Albin 25 are badly crazed, and I want to replace them with lexan. I would be interested to hear your experience changing the moldings.
